About the “Colorful World” Art Project
This calendar is more than just a beautiful collection of artwork—it’s a testament to the creativity and resilience of the children and youth in our programs.
At El Nido, foster youth, guided by artist Eric De Gama, explored abstract compositions inspired by nature and personal experiences. Some drew from the vibrant hues found in fruits and vegetables, while others turned to their imaginations to express emotional realities. “The process was about encouraging the youth to focus their creativity with inspiration and support,” Eric shared.
Meanwhile, students at 20th Street Elementary School brought their artistic visions to life through watercolor painting under the guidance of Mary Kay Wilson. These budding artists honed their skills by exploring color in the world around them and translating their discoveries into vivid works of art. “Helping young artists see like an artist and develop their skills is always inspiring,” Mary Kay said.
