Sycamores has received substantial grants from The Ralph M. Parsons Foundation, the Jessie Ball duPont Fund, and the Kenneth T. and Eileen L. Norris Foundation. The Ralph M. Parsons Foundation’s $100,000 grant will provide funding for Sycamores’ Transitional Housing Program for transition age youth (ages 18-24) who are experiencing homelessness or at-risk of becoming homeless. The $50,000 grant from the Jessie Ball duPont Fund and the $30,000 grant from the Kenneth T. and Eileen L. Norris Foundation will fund the Learning Lab tutoring and college prep program at our Palmdale Family Resource Center.
Sycamores’ Transitional Housing Program offers resources to ensure young adults have safety, shelter, clothing, food, and other essentials that enable them to focus on their own personal and professional growth. In addition to housing, The Ralph M. Parsons Foundation grant will also help fund Sycamores’ work with the young adults, providing customized support and services (mental health services, educational services, vocational services and internships) that address the trauma they experienced, while simultaneously helping them envision and work towards a brighter future.
The Jessie Ball duPont Fund and Kenneth T. and Eileen L. Norris Foundation grants, in support of Sycamores’ Palmdale Learning Lab program, help us to provide low-income students (6th to 12th grade) in the Antelope Valley with free group and individual tutoring. Beginning in Jr. High, the Learning Lab also has a college prep program that provides students and their parents with guidance and assistance with applying to college and for financial aid.
We are extremely grateful for our philanthropic partnerships with The Ralph M. Parsons Foundation, the Jessie Ball duPont Fund, and the Kenneth T. and Eileen L. Norris Foundation. While the organizations are funding different programs, the ultimate impact is the same, helping the children, young adults and families we serve create a better life.
