Sycamores’ Learning Lab Kicks Off the New School Year After a Summer of College Exploration

As we gear up for a new school year at Sycamores’ Learning Lab, we’re reflecting on an inspiring summer that motivated our students to dream big! Youth from our Palmdale Family Resource Center’s Learning Lab and College Prep Program had the opportunity to visit two prestigious universities – USC and Loyola Marymount University.

Sycamores students visit USC

During their visit to the USC campus, the students learned about the admissions process and campus life. They asked great questions and left feeling motivated to plan ahead for college. After a 1-hour presentation, the youth enjoyed a 90-minute student-led walking tour. It was an amazing day filled with learning and inspiration.

In addition to USC, our students also toured Loyola Marymount University (LMU), further broadening their horizons and fueling their college ambitions. The students were impressed by the beauty of the LMU campus and the programs they have to offer. These experiences were invaluable, providing our youth with the knowledge and confidence they need to navigate their educational journeys.

At Sycamores’ Learning Lab, we’re committed to empowering students to reach their full potential. The program, offered at our Palmdale Family Resource Center, provides free academic support for students in grades 4-12. Whether students need help with a challenging subject, are at risk of falling behind, or seek enrichment opportunities, our after-school program is designed to help them thrive. We offer free tutoring in all subjects, college guidance counseling to navigate applications and financial aid, and access to computers and printers to support academic success.

We’re excited to welcome students back to the Learning Lab this month, ready to start the school year off on the right foot. To learn more and register, download our tutoring flyer in English or Spanish. (Flyers will download as pdf files.)
